Our commitment
Mari. is built on a simple principle: your phone is yours. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data. There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising networks, no crash-reporting backends, and no accounts. Everything the app needs stays on your device.
This policy describes the data the app accesses on your device, why it needs it, and what happens with it.
What we access
Location
Purpose: Calculating accurate prayer times and determining the Qibla bearing to Mecca requires your geographic coordinates. Location is accessed when you open the Qibla or Prayer Times features.
Your coordinates are computed locally by iOS Core Location, used immediately for the calculation, and never stored beyond your current app session. We do not log, cache, or transmit location data.
Motion and orientation sensors
Purpose: The Qibla compass reads your device's magnetometer and gyroscope to display a real-time bearing. Sensor data is processed in memory only and is never stored or sent anywhere.
Notifications
Purpose: Adhan and prayer-time reminders are delivered as local notifications — scheduled entirely on your device by iOS, with no push notification server involved. Enabling notifications grants iOS permission to display alerts; no data leaves your phone.
What we do not collect
- No analytics — no usage events, screen views, or session data.
- No crash reporting — no automatic crash logs sent to any server.
- No third-party tracking SDKs (no Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar).
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA).
- No user accounts, emails, passwords, or profile data.
- No in-app purchase history or financial data.
- No contact list, photo library, microphone, or camera access.
Local storage
All app preferences — language setting, saved Quran quotes, notification preferences, and prayer calculation method — are stored in UserDefaults on your device. This data never leaves your phone and is deleted if you delete the app.
Third-party services
Mari. does not integrate any third-party services, SDKs, or APIs. The app functions entirely offline once installed. Prayer times are calculated locally using established astronomical algorithms; no external API calls are made.
Children's privacy
Mari. does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. Because we collect no personal data at all, the app is safe for use by children. Parents and guardians are encouraged to use iOS Screen Time and parental controls as appropriate.
Data retention
Because we collect no data, there is nothing to retain or delete on our end. All local preferences stored by the app are erased when you delete Mari. from your device.
Your rights
Since we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing to access, correct, export, or delete from our systems. If you wish to remove all app data, uninstalling Mari. from your device is sufficient.

Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, communicate the change through an app update. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
